Write to us

support@jhint.ai — one address for everything: questions, problems, refunds, licence trouble.

There is no ticket system and no chatbot. Messages are read by the person who builds the product, usually within one business day.

What to include

You do not need a formal report, but these four things save a round trip:

  • Your licence key, or the email address you used at checkout. We have no accounts, so this is how we find your purchase.
  • What you expected and what happened instead.
  • Your macOS version and jhint version — the version is in Settings → General.
  • Which model provider you had selected, if the problem involves answers.

Please do not paste conversation content, transcripts or API keys into a support email. We do not need them, and we would rather not receive them.

Managing your subscription

Card details, invoices and cancellation live in Paddle’s customer portal. Open it from the app: Settings → License → Manage subscription. Plan changes happen in the app itself: Settings → License → Change plan.

Cancelling stops future charges and keeps your licence working until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are described in the Refund Policy — 14 days, no questions asked. After a refund no new licence access is granted; an access token already issued to this installation may keep working until it expires, for no more than seven days.

Common problems

The app says the licence is not valid

Check that the computer is online, then open Settings → License and use Refresh. Individual covers one computer and Pro covers two; if every slot your plan covers is taken, free one with Deactivate this Mac on the machine you no longer use.

If your Mac was asleep or the screen was locked when the app started, the system keychain may not have been available yet — reopening the app after unlocking resolves it.

No speech is recognised

jhint listens to audio played by your computer, not to your microphone. Check that the other side is actually audible through your speakers or headphones, and that Screen Recording permission is granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security — macOS routes system audio capture through that permission.

The answer never arrives

With the built-in model, the answer is computed on your computer: check in Settings → Model that the model finished downloading, and bear in mind that a larger model on a smaller computer takes longer for the first words to appear.

With an external provider the failure is usually on that side: a missing API key, an expired one, no credit on the account, or a local model server that is not running. Settings → Provider shows the current selection and can test it.

The built-in model does not search the web

Search is off until you turn it on, and switching it on asks you to accept a separate notice — an answer that needs a current fact will otherwise come from what the model remembers.

If it is on and searches still do not happen, the likely reasons are: the search engine refused the request (the app does not work around a block, so it stops and says so), or we have switched the feature off. We can do that without releasing a new version — if a search engine changes its terms or rules, or a problem turns up, the feature goes dark for everyone until it is sorted. Write to us and we will tell you which of the two it is.

The download is blocked on first launch

The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised. If macOS still objects, make sure jhint was moved to the Applications folder and opened from there.

Reporting a security issue

Write to support@jhint.ai with “security” in the subject. Please give us a reasonable chance to fix the issue before disclosing it publicly. We will confirm receipt and tell you what we intend to do.

Reporting abuse

If you believe jhint is being used against you or someone else, see Acceptable Use — it explains what we can act on and what we genuinely cannot see.
