What leaves your computer

Never

Audio. It is processed as your computer plays it and never written to disk or transmitted — in every configuration, whichever model answers.

Your licence key and email go only to our licensing service, and only to check the licence. A licence check also carries a random installation identifier, a device check value, the version of the app, and the platform it runs on — one word, either macOS or Windows, and nothing more than that word. Those are the fields it carries; the Privacy Policy describes each of them.

With the built-in model

Nothing about the conversation goes to a model provider, because there is no provider: the answer is computed by the app on your computer.

The app still uses the network for three things: fetching the model itself, checking for updates, and checking the licence. If you turn on Web search, it also makes searches — from your computer, under your own IP address.

There is no telemetry inside the app — no counters, no usage reports, no crash statistics. Every request jhint makes falls into one of these categories, and there are no others:

• the licence service, to check your licence;
• the update channel, to look for a new version;
• the model host, when you download a model;
• your chosen AI provider, when you press Answer with an external provider;
• the search engine, when web search is on and the model decides to search.

With your own provider (Pro)

When you press Answer, jhint sends:

• the current question — the recent part of the conversation your question is about;
• the session instruction and the context files you attached;
• a screenshot, if you attached one;
• recent conversation context, only if you ticked it in the New session dialog;
• your profile, only if you ticked Send profile.

The last two are off by default. Nothing is sent between the moments you press Answer, and before your first external request jhint tells you what will be sent and asks you to accept it.

Data sent to a provider is handled under that provider’s terms — their retention, their region, their policies.

On this computer
